Governor Mike Dewine signed S.B. 164 into law on 1/3/23, which will enhance felony cruelty penalties, ban the use of gas chambers for pet euthanization in Ohio, and ban the process of using euthanized pets from being put into pet food in Ohio. The animal welfare community has tried to pass an Ohio law to ban gas chambers for over 10 years – this is indeed a historic moment for Ohio’s pets!
