The Pet and Women Safety (PAWS) Act has awarded the Battered Women’s Shelter $399,570 in order to provide emergency shelter and transitional housing to victims of domestic violence with pets!

The PAWS Act establishes a grant program for entities that provide shelter and housing assistance for domestic violence survivors to enable them to better meet the housing needs of survivors with pets. This grant will allow them to better care for companion animals, partner with local animal welfare organizations, and ensure stable housing for the survivor and their pet.

The Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties serves all survivors of Intimate Partner Violence, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, creed, race, country of origin, immigration status, income, or ability.
