Human activities can have a measurable effect on the health and wellbeing of humans, animals and ecosystems alike, For example, lack of concern for animal welfare in industrial farming can lead to the emergence of zoonotic diseases like influenza and coronaviruses, and increased pollution that can contaminate waterways and damage ecosystems. Fortunately, as the report discusses, there is also evidence that improved animal welfare can lead to a healthier environment for both humans and animals.
