In 2021, Ohio had 16 of the nation’s worst puppy mills, with breeding dogs dying from dental procedures performed by breeders. Breeders disregard the health of their dogs to keep costs low and maximize their profits.
Our work is not done. ODA passed rules in 2023 that allow puppy mill breeders to perform painful tail docking and dew claw removal on puppies without a veterinarian or anesthesia.
