Rest In Peace to Dixie, a dog shot and killed by Lorain Police.
Last Friday, a police officer in Lorain, Ohio shot a three-year-old yellow lab named Dixie, as she ran up to him. The shot paralyzed Dixie in her hind legs, and the officer was seen firing at least three more shots. Dixie died on the sidewalk shortly after.
Angry residents joined the family at the Lorain police station Friday to protest police and demand justice for Dixie. Kimberly Goddard, Dick Goddard’s daughter, is urging authorities to follow the state law named after her father. The law, passed in 2016, makes the harming of an animal a fifth-degree felony.“ “This was animal abuse,” she said. “Some people are just not meant to be police officers.”
We are horrified by this blatant use of force on an innocent dog. Read this article for more information: https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2023/07/justice-for-dixie-community-rips-lorain-officers-shooting-of-familys-retriever.html
