Partner Profile: Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County

Our next featured partner is the Animal Welfare League (AWL) of Trumbull County. “Rescue, Adopt, Rehabilitate, Educate” is their mission, and this year AWL is celebrating their 50th year of serving Trumbull County animals.

Bridging the Gaps! Through the Harnett Companions in Crisis (HCIC) Program, AWL offers financial assistance to pet owners who are unable to pay for emergency veterinary services for their companion animals. AWL understands it can be very scary for pet owners to have an emergency arise with a beloved family companion and even scarier to not have the financial means to pay for the medical care.  The HCIC fund has helped with emergency situations such as urinary blockages, intestinal blockages, pyometra, and leg amputations.

Low-Income Spay and Neuter: AWL realizes more unwanted animals only add to the overpopulation crisis and understands many families cannot afford the cost of routine spay and neuter services. AWL has addressed this challenge in Trumbull County through a partnership with local veterinarian Dr. Sue Wilcox at Steel Valley Spay and Neuter Clinic to offer assistance to low-income families. Applicants are qualified based on income and receive discounted spay and neuter rates for a small copayment.  Many of the animals served here would otherwise go unaltered without the availability of this low-cost service.

Special Event: On 01/24/2020, AWL will be having their annual Wine and Chocolate event. Watch for details on AWL’s website as the date gets closer!
