Partner Profile: Coshocton County Animal Shelter & Humane Animal Treatment Association

OAA is pleased to introduce the Coshocton County Animal Shelter (CCAS) & Humane Animal Treatment Association (HATA). CCAS/HATA, which also operates the Coshocton County dog pound, has served the animals of Coshocton and surrounding area counties for over 50 years.

Mission: The CCAS/HATA mission is to provide a full-service, humane, animal-care organization, open to all in need. Some of their services are highlighted below.

Pet Food Bank: Every week, CCAS/HATA provides a community pet-food bank that includes dry foods, canned foods, cat litter, dog boxes, and straw for outdoor-dwelling domestic animals. 

Veterinary Care and Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Programs: CCAS/HATA offers monthly low-cost spay/neuter clinics and assists with emergency care on a case-by-case basis. In addition, weekly financial assistance is provided to those in need, including vouchers for veterinary office visits, vouchers for humane euthanasia, and spay/neuter vouchers to private veterinarians in addition to their mobile units.. 

Transfer/Rescue/Adoptions Assistance: CCAS/HATA is proud to partner with other local animal care organizations to place and safely transfer hundreds of animals every year from the CCAS/HATA shelter to larger facilities. These organizations often have access to more resources, including veterinary care. All privately adopted animals are vetted prior to exit, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, and parasite treatments. 

Service area: Coshocton and surrounding counties. Low-cost spay/neuter clinics and open-admission shelter policies are open to all in need. CCAS/HATA accepts all cats and kittens at no charge and is one of very few dog pounds that continue to accept out-of-county owner-surrendered canines in need. A modest county service fee for dogs and puppies is required.
