Partner Profile: Hocking-Athens-Perry Community Action (HAPCAP)

OAA is pleased to feature the Hocking-Athens-Perry Community Action, which runs the Southeast (SE) Ohio Foodbank and SE Ohio Regional Kitchen. This food bank not only provided close to 6 million pounds of food last year to its human clients, it feeds pets!

Mission: HAPCAP’s SE Ohio Foodbank receives food donations from the government, major food manufacturers, retailers, farmers, local food producers, area food drives, and individual donations. They ensure this food is distributed to network charitable feeding organizations (food pantries and soup kitchens) throughout Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington counties. Network members distribute the food within their communities to income-eligible individuals and families struggling with hunger. Last year, the SE Ohio Foodbank network connected over 5.7 million pounds of food to hungry people across the region. 

Pet Food Pantry: When resources are available, the SE Ohio Foodbank offers pet food and pet supplies to clients currently enrolled in their Athens and Hocking County Meals on Wheels program as well as pet food distributions across their region for the general public. The Pet Food Program is supported through pet food drives, private donations, and corporate in-kind donations. Currently, 80 Meals on Wheels pets are currently receiving food through their Meals on Wheels Pet Food Program!

Recent Event:  The SE Ohio Foodbank ran their March for Meals and pet food drives across Athens County last month. Monetary donations on the HAPCAP webpage are always greatly appreciated and continuously needed.
