We are thrilled to share that Dr. Alba Michelle Gonzalez, OAA's Board member and veterinary advisor — known to many as Dr. G — was honored with the Humane World for Animals Access to Care Visionary Award at this year's Animal Care EXPO!
This prestigious award recognizes a veterinary professional who embodies innovation, commitment, and inspiration in advancing access to veterinary care. Dr. G’s leadership and passion made her a clear and deserving choice for this year’s recognition.
Dr. G has made a lasting impact through her role as an Ohio state representative for HumaneVMA, her critical work deploying with the HWA Animal Rescue Team during cases of animal cruelty and neglect, and her ongoing efforts to bring veterinary services directly to the community. Through her mobile veterinary clinic, she not only provides affordable, accessible care to those who need it most but also mentors veterinary students, giving them hands-on experience in community-centered veterinary care.
Her work inspires others in the veterinary profession to think differently, act compassionately, and expand their impact beyond traditional practice settings. Dr. G’s dedication shows that accessible veterinary care is not just a goal — it’s a movement, and she’s helping lead the way.
