Pet-Friendly Housing Program Grant Opportunity
The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is now accepting applications for the FY 2025 Emergency and Transitional Pet Shelter and Housing Assistance for Victims of Domestic Violence Program. This competitive grant offers up to $500,000 per award to help create or expand pet-friendly housing for survivors of domestic violence.
According to the OVC, “this funding opportunity will provide funding for shelter and transitional housing and other assistance to victims of domestic violence and their companion animals, which under this program means pets, service animals, emotional support animals, and horses.”
Why This Matters
Too often, survivors face the heartbreaking decision to stay in an unsafe situation or leave a beloved animal behind. By funding facilities and programs that welcome both survivors and their companion animals, this program helps remove one of the biggest barriers to safety and healing.
Eligible Projects May Include:
Renovating or expanding shelter space to house animals
Building or upgrading kennels and outdoor runs
Covering veterinary care, food, and other pet-related expenses
Providing emergency boarding or foster placement for animals
Partnering with local animal shelters or rescues to offer temporary housing
