Survivors Deserve Stability: Protecting the Ohio Housing Trust Fund
In April 2025, the Ohio Domestic Violence Network (ODVN) launched its inaugural Survivor Voices Council, a transformative initiative supported by a $200,000 grant from the Ohio Housing Trust Fund (OHTF). This funding underscores the critical role OHTF plays in supporting life-saving programs for Ohioans facing domestic violence and housing insecurity.
However, this progress is at risk.
A proposed amendment to HB 96 threatens to undermine the OHTF by stripping state oversight and creating inconsistent, inefficient administration at the county level. If enacted, this change would reduce housing support in rural areas where it's needed most and increase housing insecurity, putting more people—and their pets—at risk.
Take Action Now:
Ohio Animal Advocates urges you to stand with survivors and protect the OHTF. Here's how you can help:
Contact Your State Senators: Urge them to preserve the Ohio Housing Trust Fund and support Senator Michelle Reynolds’ amendment (SC1326), which proposes a study committee to evaluate and improve the OHTF without disrupting services. You can find your state senator here.
Use Our Action Alert: Visit our Action Alerts page for more information about protecting and strengthen the Ohio Housing Trust Fund for housing-challenged and homeless families and their pets. Contact your legislators directly.
Your voice matters. By taking action, you help ensure that survivors have access to the resources they need to rebuild their lives and that families can stay together, including their beloved pets.
Together, we can protect essential housing resources and uphold the dignity and safety of all Ohioans.
