ASI Human-Animal Relationship Awareness Week

The Animals & Society Institute (ASI) is excited to invite you to join them in celebrating Human-Animal Relationship Awareness Week (#HARAWeek) on November 11-17, 2024!

Now in its eighth year, ASI created this week to raise global awareness of the importance of human-animal relationships. Their vision is to live in a compassionate and equitable world where nonhuman animals and our relationships with them flourish, and they believe that a dedicated awareness week like HARAWeek offers an opportunity to draw attention to our relationships and interactions with nonhuman animals and the environment.

It doesnโ€™t matter where you live, or if youโ€™re celebrating as an individual or a group, Human-Animal Relationship Awareness Week is an international event celebrated in different ways all around the world! Here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Join their online November Colloquium Series event titled, โ€œShould Animal Advocacy Avoid Causing Guilt and Shame?โ€ on November 13, 2024 at 9am PT/12pm ET/7pm EET.

  • Spread the word! Throughout HARAWeek, you can use social media to create awareness, spread the message, and be part of the conversation. Use the hashtags #HARAWeek and #HumanAnimalRelationshipAwarenessWeek! If youโ€™re looking for graphics, find our media kit here

  • Educate others about the importance of human-animal relationships. ASIโ€™s website is full of Human-Animal Studies resources for students, faculty, researchers, and mental health practitioners.

  • Host or attend awareness and educational events that highlight or support positive human-animal relationships.

  • Get creative with flavors and explore plant-based cooking! Check out Meatless Mondays for ideas.

  • Volunteer at a local animal shelter or farmed animal sanctuary.

  • Visit animal shelter open days or support pet adoption events.

  • Attend or host fundraising events for animal advocacy organizations.

  • Donate your finances, your time, or your skills to animal advocacy organizations.

  • Plan school events that educate and inspire the younger generation on the importance of human-animal relationships.

  • Get creative! Find another way to participate that works for you and share it with others.

We look forward to seeing you get involved with Human-Animal Relationship Awareness Week 2024!
